On Mother’s Day, Geelong Foodshare had the absolute delight of being chosen as the Dulux Community Bay charity for the Geelong Cats vs GWS Giants clash at GMHBA Stadium. And what a game it was — a nail-biter right until the end!
A Spotlight on Our Volunteers
This special day was more than just football. It was a chance to celebrate our 190-strong team of volunteers, the dedicated people who make Geelong Foodshare possible. From rescuing and sorting food, to supporting agencies and welcoming shoppers into our social supermarkets, our volunteers are the heart of everything we do.
The timing could not have been more perfect, with National Volunteer Week beginning the following Monday, May 19. Bringing our team together in such a vibrant community setting was a meaningful way to acknowledge the hours, energy and compassion our volunteers give every week.
Partnering with Dulux and the Geelong Cats
We are deeply grateful to Dulux and the Geelong Cats for extending this opportunity to us. Through the Dulux Community Bay program, local charities are invited into the stadium on game day, shining a spotlight on the power of community and volunteering.
Their support gave us a platform to share our mission with thousands of fans — and to highlight the role volunteering plays in ensuring that food relief reaches more than 20,000 people across Geelong and surrounding regions every week.
Feeding Social Change
At Geelong Foodshare, we believe that food is more than nourishment — it’s a gateway to stronger communities. Partnerships like this remind us that when local organisations come together, we can amplify impact and create real change.
We are proud to be part of a community where volunteering is celebrated and valued. Thank you to everyone who joined us in the stands, cheered alongside us, and recognised the incredible contribution of volunteers this Mother’s Day.
Together, we’re feeding social change.
