How the point system works
You need a voucher to shop at Geelong Foodshare. Our Social Supermarkets are designed for people in need who have been supported and assessed by an affiliated agency offering wraparound services.
Vouchers are usually worth 20 points, though some may be higher. Every product on the shelves has a coloured dot showing its point value. With a 20-point voucher, you can take home $170–$230 of free, nutritious food.
To encourage healthy choices, at least 5 points must be spent on “green” items such as fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, meat, yoghurt or eggs.
Common questions
Do I have to use all my points in one go?
YES
Is there a bus stop nearby?
YES, but be aware for 20 points you can get up to $230 worth of groceries, so it can be quite heavy.
Do you accept digital and physical vouchers?
YES
I am in a wheelchair, can I get in?
YES, at our Morgan St Social Supermarket.
“Shopping at the Social Supermarket has changed things for me and my kids. With the voucher, I can fill a trolley with fresh fruit, vegetables, bread and other groceries that would normally be out of reach. It feels just like a normal shop, better than Coles and Woolies, but without the stress of how I’ll pay at the checkout. Having that choice and dignity means so much, and it helps me focus on getting back on my feet.”
