How to leave a gift
1. Speak to your solicitor
When it comes to your will, it’s always best to get expert, independent legal advice. Speak with your solicitor to include a gift that reflects your values. They can help make sure you support Geelong Foodshare in the way you intend.
2. Use our suggested wording
To keep things simple, we’ve drafted some wording you can add to your will, which will help you make a gift to Geelong Foodshare. This wording is obviously just a suggestion, and we’d strongly suggest running it past your solicitor.
3. Let us know (optional)
If you’d like to, you can let us know you intend to leave a gift in your will. We’d be happy to answer any questions, and help you design a contribution that best represents the legacy you wish to leave.

Common questions
Can I leave a percentage instead of a fixed amount?
This is something to discuss with your solicitor, but in general, yes. You can give any amount or percentage of the estate you like. This is known as a residual or percentage bequest. It’s a relatively straightforward inclusion.
Will my family be notified?
Notification and receipt of the gift will be provided to the executor of your estate. If you’d like us to contact additional friends or family, just let us know. We’re happy to help however we can.
Is it confidential?
All our donations are 100% confidential (unless you’ve directed us otherwise). The only people who will know of your gift are us, your solicitor, and any executors of the estate.
