Volunteer Onboarding

Welcome to the team! This page has everything you need to get started as a volunteer at Geelong Foodshare.

Let’s get onboard

Volunteering at Geelong Foodshare is a great way to give back and support your local community.

We’ve tried to make this onboarding process as simple and welcoming as possible. The idea is to help you feel prepared, confident and connected from Day One.
Whether you’re packing food, sorting donations, or driving the vans, you’re a vital part of our mission. We’re so grateful to have you here.

What to expect

Whatever your role or responsibilities, there are certain things you can expect from Geelong Foodshare, and certain things we expect from you.

Health and Safety

It’s our responsibility to provide a safe, secure workplace for everyone. Our health and safety onboarding ensures all volunteers understand procedures, stay protected, and contribute to a safe working environment.

Respectful Behaviour

We treat every volunteer with respect, and we expect you to offer your coworkers and our clients the same courtesy. Our onboarding promotes a positive environment where everyone is valued, supported, and treated with kindness.

What To Wear

Geelong Foodshare strictly adheres to the relevant WorkSafe Compliance Codes, and that means all staff must wear appropriate clothing and PPE at all times. This might differ, depending on your role, but it will include a high-vis vest and closed toe shoes.
